SECURE CONTACTS

If you want to share very sensitive information and documents do NOT contact me via email or phone. Please use SecureDrop.

SecureDrop will allow you to contact me anonymously to send messages, if you just want to talk to me, or to send documents, if you want to share sensitive materials.

For my newspaper, I have spent the last 10 years working on very sensitive, secret and top secrets documents, partnering with WikiLeaks to reveal all their secret files and with Glenn Greenwald to reveal the Snowden files.

You can rely on my thorough experience in dealing with highly sensitive documents and sources. At the same time, I think it is a matter of decency being honest with my journalistic sources, because I care about them: there is no such thing as perfectly secure channels to communicate with a journalist and share very sensitive documents.

What I am proposing to you is a solution which is highly secure compared to old-fashioned solutions like phones and emails or meeting in person.

How to use SecureDrop:

1) Highly recommended:

Take a blank thumb drive to a public computer (a library/cafe), at a location you do not usually visit. Download and install Tails (https://tails.boum.org/) on your thumb drive and use it to boot a computer you usually don't use. Open the TorBrowser, copy this address on the Tor Browser:

http://jxsb4ovmavjy3r64bak4ha63xwggf3nzf3vikvs23r2avm5rhzmaqtqd.onion

this will connect you to my SecureDrop, once there it's easy to upload the documents you want to share with me.

It is really important you don't connect to SecureDrop from your work or home computer. Make sure you connect from a public WiFi at a location you do not usually visit, go there keeping your phone at home and before accessing SecureDrop check that no CCTV is watching on you and your internet session.

Don't Google my SecureDrop URL and don't type it in any non-Tor Browser: that URL only works in the Tor Browser, and if you Google it or try to access it from a non-Tor Browser, it will leave a record: you shouldn' leave any record.

Don't discuss our contacts with anyone, not even with trusted people and don't try to contact me via email or phone, not even encrypted emails. SecureDrop provides you a solution to stay in touch with me and correspond securely: when you access my SecureDrop for the first time, you will be provided a passphrase generated for you: remember to take note of it, if you want me to get back to you, because that will be my only chance to contact you. If you don't want any further contact, no problem: no need to remember that passphrase.

2) Pretty good:

Download and install TorBrowser (https://www.torproject.org/projects/torbrowser.html.en) on a computer you usually don't use. Open the TorBrowser, copy this address on the TorBrowser:
